A long-dormant collaboration between two of pop music’s most beloved figures could be heading for release. Elton John and the late George Michael began work on a song called “This Kind Of Love” back in the 1990s, but the track was never finished or released. Now, according to NME, George Michael’s manager is working to secure the rights and permissions necessary to bring it to listeners more than three decades after it was started.
George Michael passed away on Christmas Day 2016, leaving behind an extraordinary catalog and, as it turns out, at least one unfinished chapter with a fellow icon. The prospect of hearing the two voices together on new material has understandably stirred excitement among fans of both artists. Whether the track clears all the legal and estate hurdles required for release remains to be seen, but the effort alone speaks to the enduring weight both artists carry in popular music.
Elton John’s music has never stopped moving audiences, and that reach extends well beyond his own performances. The Rocket Man Show brings his catalog to stages around the world, keeping that spirit alive for fans who want to experience it live.
