"Tish's voice might recall a pained young Lauryn Hill, but in contrast to Ms. Hill's more opaque late career, Tish's perspective is fresh and crystal clear."
— Matthew Trammell; The Fader
"Her talent as a rapper and singer are undeniable, then add the fact that there's a real message in what she's singing about, it's clear that Tish Hyman has the complete package."
— Travis Holcombe; KCRW
ABOUT TISH HYMAN
TISH HYMAN is a force of nature. Born and raised in the Bronx, she grew up surrounded by the rhythms that built hip-hop, cutting her teeth as a battle rapper before discovering a vocal gift that would draw comparisons to Lauryn Hill from outlets including The Fader, VH1, KCRW, and Nylon. A graduate of the legendary Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, TISH arrived in Los Angeles in 2010 and quickly established herself as one of the most sought-after songwriters in the industry, landing a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group and going on to write for and alongside Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Diddy, Kelly Rowland, and Ty Dolla $ign.
But TISH was never meant to stay behind the scenes. Her debut single "Subway Art" premiered on The Fader and immediately announced her as an artist to watch, earning praise from Billboard, Pitchfork, and Hypebeast while drawing enthusiastic co-signs from Alicia Keys, Fabolous, and Ty Dolla Sign. She became the first female rapper in 2015 to conquer Sway in the Morning's legendary "5 Fingers of Death" freestyle challenge on SiriusXM, and was handpicked by Jill Scott to open her U.S. tour. Her debut EP, Dedicated To, premiered its lead single "Dreams" (featuring Ty Dolla Sign and Fabolous) on Pitchfork and has amassed millions of streams on Spotify.
TISH's collaborations read like a who's-who of modern hip-hop and R&B. She has appeared on tracks alongside Fabolous, Diddy, Pusha T, Jadakiss, Styles P, Denzel Curry, Black Thought, The Roots, The Game, Dom Kennedy, and 6LACK, while her songwriting credits include work on Ty Dolla Sign's acclaimed album Free TC and Alicia Keys' "Blended Family (What You Do for Love)" featuring A$AP Rocky. Her voice and pen have shaped some of the most memorable records in contemporary music.
Beyond music, TISH is a woman of deep conviction who has never shied away from using her platform to speak up for what she believes in. In January 2026, she declared her candidacy for Mayor of Los Angeles, bringing the same fearless authenticity that defines her artistry into the civic arena. Whether commanding a stage, writing a hit, or rallying a community, TISH HYMAN is a singular talent with an unshakable voice.
