LOLO’S BOYFRIEND SHOW

LOLO’S BOYFRIEND SHOW

Hang in there. Love is coming.

"Bold, cathartic, and irresistibly entertaining."
— The IC Review

ABOUT LOLO'S BOYFRIEND SHOW

Tormented by the remnants of many failed relationships, Lolo is tempted by the invitation from a British guy who could be her ticket to a happier life. He’s different. He takes showers. He hasn’t asked her for money. He didn’t bring a stripper on any of their dates. But his attempts to woo her end up triggering a traumatic trip through "boyfriend's past..."

Lolo’s Boyfriend Show is a quirky young woman’s crusade to find "true love," which unwittingly leads her to find her "true self." Irreverent, soul-baring and hilarious, the show captivates audiences with a carousel of characters (all performed by Lauren O'Brien), numerous costume changes on stage and an iconic set with projections.

Lolo’s Boyfriend Show won the Edinburgh Fringe IC Audience Favorite Award and was shortlisted for Best Production. Lolo also won the Audience Choice Award at the 2024 NYC Fringe Festival and rocked Off-Broadway at Playhouse 46.

About Lauren O'Brien

Lauren O’Brien (Writer/Performer) has performed regionally in To Kill a Mockingbird (Mayella), Angels in America (Harper), A Wrinkle in Time (Mrs. Whatsit), and The Odyssey (Athena), among others. She was also a founding member of director Polina Klimovitskaya’s avant-garde theatre troupe, Terra Incognita, where she co-developed the original work Ophelia Tapestry. Lauren credits Ms. Klimovitskaya for teaching her a “psycho-physical” approach to creativity.

Lauren began her foray into music as a lyricist for producer Marc Godwin and singer Janice Robinson. She later recorded her own rock/poetry albums, Inconsequential Dream and Panic, as well as a punk-cabaret album, The Devil’s Girlfriend (which she expanded into a theatrical show and toured throughout Germany).

Lauren has toured extensively in the United States, Canada and Europe, and has performed as part of CMJ, Howl Fest, MEANY Fest, and more. She is a two-time recipient of New Century Music Awards. Her first solo show, Jaxx & Lolo, won the Audience Choice Award and the Excellence in Multi-Media Award at the New York City Frigid Festival in 2020. Lolo’s Boyfriend Show is Lauren's second solo show.
